Motion Flight Simulator Helps Whoopi Goldberg Overcome Fear of Flying
New York, NY – Viewers of the popular ABC television show “The View” on April 1st saw Whoopi Goldberg take a “virtual” plane ride in a motion flight simulator provided by Amusitronix. The experience, sponsored by Virgin Atlantic, was designed to ease the entertainer’s fear of flying in anticipation of an upcoming flight to London.
A little known Whoopi Goldberg fact is that she suffers from anxiety from fear of flying
“Helping Whoopi overcome her decade long fear of flying with our custom simulation experience was the proudest moment of my career,” said Mike Goldstein, the President of Amusitronix. Mr. Goldstein has been designing virtual reality and simulator experiences for over 20 years.
The experience was created using Amusitronix’s 4 seat motion simulator platform and video footage from inside a Virgin Atlantic aircraft. While wearing virtual reality goggles and sitting in on the platform, Ms. Goldberg was able to experience taking off, hitting turbulence, and landing as a passenger in a large aircraft – all without leaving the ABC studio.
